One of the big questions, when Disney bought 20th Century Fox, was what will become of the Deadpool franchise. The R-rated superhero comedy became a surprise hit for many moviegoers and ended up becoming a clear moneymaker after its sequel was also successful. But with Disney now in control of Deadpool, it became a big question as to what the plan will be for the property.
Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has finally answered that question in an interview with Collider. Feige has confirmed that Deadpool 3 is officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The third movie in the Deadpool franchise will also be rated R, just like the previous two were.
As a reminder, writers Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux are hired to
write the script and
Deadpool 2 director David Leitch does not appear to be returning.
With all this multiverse stuff about to happen in the MCU with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man 3, I'm sure it'll be easy to just throw Deadpool into the mix and let him throw around all kinds of jokes as if nothing has changed. Good to see Disney not afraid to let Deadpool continue to be the character in the right ways and give audiences what they want.
